First, they attacked all the porn sites. And now, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has gone and blocked access to the SarawakReport.Org! Freedom of speech is going down the drain in Malaysia.
Here’s my thought. It’s very simple. Really! Very simple! If you think a certain media organisation is bias… then you counter it with information and data that… err.. counters it!! Easy, right?
That’s what a democratic system is all about! Oh wait… Malaysia has a different definition for democracy. Sorry lah… I keep forgetting.
But the website has released a statement saying:
“Sarawak Report will not be impeded in any way by this action in bringing out future information as and when its investigations deliver further evidence.”
“This latest blow to media freedom only brings further discredit upon the present administration, who have proven unable to counter the evidence we have presented in any other way.”
You can read the full statement here.
And in objectivity (cough cough!) you can also read the MCMC’s statement about the blocking here.
But hey, it’s not like accessing a blocked website is so difficult, right? *Wink* *Wink*
