JAN 14 — A few years ago, a terrible tragedy struck our shores. It was 2004, to be exact, and a huge tsunami crashed into the north west of peninsular Malaysia. That evening, I was at home watching a local television news programme and, obviously, stories of the tsunami dominated the hour. One story captured my attention. That of Zulkifli Mohamad Noor and his wife, who lost five of their children in the tragedy.
I felt terrible for Zulkifli and his wife over their loss. You would not be human if a story like that didn’t affect you in some way. However, something else about the story disgusted me.
