Workshop: Filming Resistance with Zan Azlee

With technology at our fingertips, everybody can become a filmmaker these days. The internet is ever expanding and so are the opportunities to become an agent of content creation.

In this workshop, Zan Azlee, co-author of “Zan Azlee & Wan Chun Hung’s Guide to Indie Filmmaking” will introduce tips and tricks that will make your homemade production the most top-notch quality based on their vast experience in the film industry. All you will need is a phone with a camera!

Zan Azlee is a journalist, writer, filmmaker, multimedia producer and academic based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He reports for several news organisations, has done a few documentary films, written non-fiction books and produced a few digital multimedia stories. He also runs Fatbidin.Com.

This series of workshops is an initiative by Imagined Malaysia and Students in Resistance. It aims to share various strategies of resistance. Each workshop is expected to produce a tangible output from the participant, to reflect on the objective of providing tools for resistance. The series will cover a wide range of genres, such as art, activist strategy, zine culture, writing (academic and non-academic), communication etc. in an effort to cater to different interest groups.
