APRIL 8 — My mother comes up to me one day while I’m at her place for dinner and says she wants to ask me a for a favour for her friend.

“Zan, a friend of mine wants to see if you can have a word with her daughter.”

“About what?”

“Well, her daughter just got her SPM results and she didn’t do very well.”

“And?”

“Her mother says that she isn’t that smart since she’s never had good grades at school, so her mother wants her to go into the media or the arts. Can you talk to her?”

I stared blankly, not knowing what to think. I can see the point of talking to me to explore a career in the media or the arts.
