And here we go… my column this week at The Malaysian Insider.

To snip or not to snip?

6 NOV – Circumcision – the most dreaded word for young Muslim Malay boys between the ages of 10 and 12 years old living in Malaysia. I personally experienced the act at the age of 11. It was absolutely terrifying thinking that a part of your little member is going to be chopped off. I never received an explanation as to why I had to do it. I was just told that I it would make me a man and that now I can get married!

Damn! I didn’t want to get married at 11 years old. I just wanted to watch my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoons and play with my nun chucks.   1. I think its good for a community thing? But now more & more are doing it on an individual basis. I confirm that you loose a lot of sensitivity, but gain in other aspects such as hygiene.
