Anwar has always said that he needed more time. Okay, sure, but time can still run out and I really hope he and his whole government can hurry it up a little bit.
My thoughts about racial and religious relations in Malaysia shift all the time depending on what I read in the media, my interaction with different people and just my general observation.
Remember that sex is a natural human desire and that there is no way we can curb that feeling (hence, abstinence is an ineffective education strategy).
Academics can be free to think and research anything, even if it is against the institution they are serving or the parties funding their research, without the fear of losing their jobs.
I am a proponent of societal censorship and my definition of it is when society acts as its own filter when it comes to news and content instead of the state or any authoritative body.
Following this kind and generous act that our government has done, I would like to request that we also extend this same generosity and kindness to others who are in need.
We have too many past traumas with laws that are so broad-reaching that anything can be called under it, and we know what the consequences of that can be.
This Olympics in Paris may not have been our country’s best performance, but it might just be the one where Malaysians have really been so emotionally invested.
Does this mean that Malaysians are actually out of touch with reality? Or does it mean that reality bites more real in real life?
