Seeing how my love for storytelling is the reason why I am in the career that I am in (journalism, of course!), I was naturally attracted to this story which was featured at Niemanlab.org.
I’ve always been a fan of non-fiction storytelling podcasts like The Moth and Risk! and so reading how The Arizona Republic newspaper has started experimenting with live journalism storytelling nights in front of an audience seems to me like a really cool idea.
Apparently, this new open-mic journalism event has opened up new opportunities for the newspaper because of the value it has created in face-to-face connection and how intimacy is so important today where the Internet culture has dictated the way people consume content.
