Manipulating religion for worldly gains

MAY 11 – One Muslim calling the other a kafir (infidel). Muslims simply declaring anything they feel like as being haram. All this while still in the heat of Bersih. What I am referring to is to the article in the New Straits Times which carried the headline ‘Nik Aziz the father of kafirs’.

And I am also referring to the country’s fatwa council declaring that it is haram for Muslims to be participating in Bersih rallies. The New Straits Times wrote that former IGP, Tan Sri Rahim Noor, says that PAS’ Nik Aziz is the father of kafirs. [Click to read the full article at The Malaysian Insider]

I have read your article at MI and I posted some comments which was unfortunately not published .
With reference to your views regarding the issue of calling another an infidel, I am all supportive of your arguments.
But perhaps you should not confine to what an ex IGP might have said, but should preach too to Nik Aziz and his cohorts.
Would you deny that this particular group who decreed that non followers of a certain party would be guaranteed a place in hell. Or that a follower of a party, when he died , should be ignored instead of giving him the last rite according to fardu kifayah? Or praying seperately if the Imam is not one of your flock? Or disavowing a daughter if she decided to marry someone of different political inclination?
When a person like the ex IGP expounded his feeling, rightly or wrongly, you quickly pounced on him, but as I have said , the real culprit is really out there scot free.
